Fully remote boutique creative agency is looking for a Business Development Director to add to their growing team on execution of client projects; this position will lead new business, sales and marketing efforts for this branding and web design agency. As the Business Development Director, you’ll provide leadership across acquiring new branding and website projects. We need someone who’s able to identify a client’s business needs and work independently to understand, define and build effective and innovative solutions that generate new business. You must be prepared to be as much of a leader as you are an effective communicator and mentor. You must be extremely outgoing, comfortable with making cold calls and networking. Excellent writing skills and the ability to work independently and manage time effectively is a must.

CHECK THESE BOXES

  • 3-5 years business development experience within a client services organization, preferably on projects including web, mobile, video, brand, and strategic consulting. Must have experience in Beauty/Wellness/Skincare/Women’s verticals.
  • Run end-to-end pitch process, including establishing initial opportunities, interfacing with prospective clients, and developing proposals, in which pricing projects and assessing client needs are an essential skill.
  • Manage account profitability by negotiating statements of work, ensuring work is delivered on budget.
  • Expand contacts with key client project contacts and maintain strong post-engagement relationships introducing new opportunities accordingly.
  • Create and execute on outbound marketing and sales strategy.
  • Network and cold call on behalf of agency to secure new business meetings and qualified contacts for partners.
  • Research/find relevant RFP’s and initiate relationships with agency search firms.
  • Identity networking events for partner participation (trade shows, conferences, events).
  • Represent agency at events.
  • Submit agency work for industry awards.
  • Publish content to agency blog and social channels.
  • Find opportunities for partners to present/speak, lead workshops, panel participation, etc.
  • Must be comfortable talking with CEO’s, CMO’s, technical leads and marketers about digital marketing needs and branding.
  • Must have familiarity with the web design and development process, technical terminology and industry trends and standards.
  • Must be aware of trends in marketing and advertising

The job.

  • Member of the agency Leadership Team representing New Business Development and Agency Growth. Work side-by-side with President to develop and roadmap a 1-to 3-year agency vision and strategic growth plan.
  • Develop, manage and execute a comprehensive new business strategy/plan to successfully support current and future agency vision.
  • Articulate new business strategy and direction to senior management through clarification of key customer requirements and conducting competitive analysis and market research.
  • Lead New Business team to uncover and develop opportunities for agency to make sales presentations to targeted prospects. Manage team strategy, direction, development and execution of physical pitch presentations.
  • Grow established business. Provide strategic guidance for select clients with focus on scope expansion through additional content development and services.
  • Uncover areas for potential revenue growth through expansion of services within agency.
  • Drive strategic insights through analytics/research to ultimately provide stimulus and guidance for targeted agency campaigns and initiatives.
  • Provide strategic advice to agency leadership providing accurate view of the market and agency future.
  • Manage public relations/agency branding efforts to extend agency exposure through seminar/webinar and podcast speaking engagements for key team members to increase awareness of agency story and success.
  • Management of agency credential presentations for all outreach to prospective clients.
  • Lead agency training and development to boost team morale and knowledge base; fill voids.
  • Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth.
  • Explore agency partnerships via regional organizations to fill potential gaps in portfolio of services.

The Sales Development Representative is responsible for qualifying leads at the initial stages in the sales funnel; they must research potential clients, connect with and educate prospects and qualify leads before handing them off to the closers of the sales team. This role is a vital member of the Sales team that works collaboratively with senior leadership to ensure sales targets are met.

The outbound sales process requires SDR to reach out to prospects in the form of cold calls, emails or social networks. This process allows salespeople to personalize their outreach from the first touch point, and qualify or disqualify contacts; once qualified, handing off to sales account managers. The inbound sales process is directed toward prospects who have shown interest in the platform via trial signups via website. Here you will be responsible for gathering initial information and interest to arm the senior sales team with information prior to a full-service walk through.

You’ll manage numerous requests and time demands concurrently while achieving personal activity goals, executing on a strong prospecting plan of attack and process, including email and call scripts. Capable of understanding customer pain points and requirements, you hold intelligent and engaging conversations over the phone and email, ensuring successful follow through of sales cycle by maintaining accurate activity and lead qualification information in SalesForce. Acting as the subject matter expert on influencer marketing and its role within advertising, you’ll quickly learn the product, effectively communicate the value proposition and be able to react to objections and competitive questions.Please have excellent listening skills and a positive and energetic phone presence. You are extremely self-motivated with a diligent work ethic, working with a high level of integrity and a strong commitment to building a successful company culture. Seeking a strategically-savvy New Business Director for a true “Hunter” role — not a pitch manager; pitches are handled by others with this person’s input. Your activities would be tied in with the agency’s Marketing lead, but your responsibilities are discreet and focused.  This person must be a good verbal and written communicator and have a solid understanding of the B2B agency business.

Things you’ll get to do:

  • Research, identify, and prioritize target markets/companies based on who the agency is and where they can be most successful
  • Conduct strategic outreach to high priority prospects –

  • Pitch agency leadership for speaking engagements, participation in discussion panels and committees, joint research initiatives, etc.
  • Identify strategies and opportunities to improve and evolve the agency’s content and its distribution, including overall editorial guidance and ideation around high-value proprietary content such as studies, surveys, etc.
